The City of Newnan and Newnan Cultural Arts Commission is proud and excited to welcome Step Afrika! to the Wadsworth Auditorium on March 2, 2024. Step Afrika! takes the best of African-American fraternities and sororities' percussive dance styles, traditional African dancers, and various contemporary dance and art forms and combines them into one awe-inspiring performance. With this presentation, Step Afrika! create a visible and distinctive artistic experience that can't be found anywhere else.
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding.
