Downtown Mobility Plan

LET’S MOVE, NEWNAN

Help shape a safer, more walkable and better-connected Downtown Newnan.

Downtown Newnan is a place where people shop, dine, work, gather and connect. Every day, people also move through downtown in different ways including walking, driving, parking, biking, making deliveries and traveling to surrounding neighborhoods.

The Downtown Mobility Plan is looking at how those trips work together and where practical improvements could make getting around safer, easier and more comfortable.

Study Area

The Downtown Mobility Plan focuses on Downtown Newnan and the streets and connections shown on the study area map below. The study will look not only at individual streets and intersections, but also at how the network works as a whole, including connections to important destinations and surrounding neighborhoods.

Why a Downtown Mobility Plan?

Downtown streets serve many purposes at once. They move people and vehicles, provide access to businesses and homes, accommodate parking and deliveries, support events and help create a welcoming public space. The Downtown Mobility Plan will consider these needs together, with a focus on improving safety, accessibility and connections while supporting Downtown Newnan’s historic character and economic vitality.

What Will the Plan Do?

The Downtown Mobility Plan will use transportation and safety data, field observations and community input to identify potential improvements and help the City prioritize future investments in downtown mobility.

How the Plan Is Being Developed?

Prepare and Understand June - July 2026 Launch the study, collect information, assess existing conditions and begin coordination with City staff, the Steering Committee and project stakeholders

Listen and Validate August - September 2026 Share early findings, gather community experiences, identify priority locations and issues and confirm whether the data reflects what people experience downtown

Develop and Test September - October 2026 Develop potential improvements and ask the community to react to concepts, priorities and tradeoffs

Finalize and Plan for Implementation November - December 2026 Refine recommendations based on technical analysis and community feedback, establish implementation priorities and publish the final plan

Get Involved!

The project team is studying existing conditions and gathering input from people who live, work, own businesses, visit and travel through Downtown Newnan.

Transportation and safety data can tell us a lot, but it cannot capture every experience. Where is it difficult to cross? Where are sidewalks uncomfortable or inaccessible? Where do parking, traffic or deliveries create conflicts? What connections are missing, and what already works well?

Your input will help the project team understand these experiences alongside the data and identify the places and issues that deserve attention. There are several ways to participate.

Survey and Interactive Map

An online survey and interactive map will allow you to share your experience getting around downtown, identify specific locations and tell us where you see concerns, opportunities, or connections that are working well.

The survey will open on Monday, August 31 and remain open through Friday, September 25.
