"Downtown Ambassadors" (Volunteers & Partners)

Main Street Ambassadors

Individuals, Businesses or Organizations who would like to volunteer their time or services to support Downtown Newnan. Main Street Ambassadors are volunteers that enhance our program immensely. The duties of a Main Street Ambassador can range from volunteering to help facilitate a Main Street event, to participating in a Main Street Committee, to clerical responsibilities and much more. To be a Main Street Ambassador, we ask that you commit at least 10 hours a year to our program. Please email mainstreetnewnan@cityofnewnan.org if you are interested in becoming an ambassador!

Summer NewnaNights

Summer NewnaNights

The Summer NewnaNights will take place on the 2nd Thursday in June-August from 6:00pm- 9:00pm, and will feature family friendly music and entertainment! Each event will take place in the Greenville Street Park. The Greenville Street Park will also be filled with various festivities and vendor booths.
Summer Wined Up

Summer Wined Up

The Summer Wined-Up is our downtown wine-tasting event, and takes place each year during the month of June. Individual tastings occur at a different downtown business, where guests should expect to perform a “wine walk” that moves through over 25 host locations. The merchants who host this event will feature different hor d'oeuvres and a variety of whites, reds, and specialty blend wines for guests to sample. All downtown business hosts are happy to extend their business hours and hospitality to all downtown guests; drinkers, and non-drinkers, including retail specials and promotions. Main Street Newnan releases a limited number of 500 Summer Wined-up tickets for drinkers that are available for purchase.
July 4th Parade

July 4th Parade

The Fourth of July Parade will begin at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 9:00 a.m., and will end at Greenville Street Park between 9:30- 10:00 a.m. Main Street Newnan welcomes the community to meet at Veteran’s Memorial Park by 8:30 a.m. Registration is not necessary for participants unless they intend to use any type of motorized vehicle to pull a float. There is also no registration fee to participate. Main Street Newnan requests that all registration forms be submitted at least one week before the parade. The Newnan Rotary club will also host festivities on the evening of July 4th. Please join us at 5:30 p.m., at Drake Stadium for family fun and fireworks until dark. Admission is free, and concessions will be available for purchase at 6 p.m. Traditional holiday fare will be on hand with hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks. There will be musical entertainment, and other attractions provided for children along with free souvenirs for the kids to take home.
Sunrise on the Square Road Race

Sunrise on the Square Road Race

The Sunrise on the Square Labor Day Road Race is a local favorite, and has been held annually in Downtown Newnan on the Saturday before Labor Day for over 25 years! The race begins in Downtown Newnan and spans through “The City of Homes,” where runners will catch a glimpse of our beautiful, historic in-town neighborhoods and commercial district. The race is a USATF certified course featuring chipped timing, where runners will enjoy the diversity of terrain, including: long flat stretches, downhill, and uphill sections. The Sunrise on the Square Labor Day Road race welcomes both runners and walkers of all skill levels. Runners are given options to pursue a 5K route, and a 10k route.

Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest celebration is designed to bring beer enthusiasts downtown to enjoy a night of tasting craft brews. Over 30+ downtown businesses participants extend their business hours, and their hospitality, to downtown guest to serve as tasting locations for the different varieties of craft beer that is available for sampling. Downtown businesses provide complimentary refreshments, retail sales specials and other treats for all Oktoberfest guest.

Tucked Away Music Festival

Event attendees will have the unique opportunity to visit stages placed in public parking lots and alleyways throughout the district. We encourage everyone to shop and dine local during the event! Musical talent will be very diverse, where each stage will represent a different genre. The current list of performers is listed below!
Holiday Sip & See

Holiday Sip & See

During the Holiday Sip-and-See, downtown retail establishments extend their normal business hours to introduce their holiday gift items, and offer special promotions or discounts. This event is a great opportunity to get an early start on holiday shopping! Participating businesses will serve hor d'oeuvres and beverages during the event. The Holiday Open House is also an opportunity for spectators to stroll our beautiful downtown streets with family and friends while enjoying the season in downtown Newnan!
Santa on the Square

Santa on the Square

Santa on the Square is hosted each year on the day after Thanksgiving from 6- 8 p.m. During the event, Santa visits downtown Newnan to greet children, who are welcome to sit on Santa’s lap and read him their Christmas list! The downtown streets will close within the hours prior to the event, as Santa will be making a special trip from the North Pole to the downtown Newnan Square! Santa will arrive downtown in a Fire Truck, and will immediately light the beautiful downtown Christmas Tree before the event begins. This annual tradition in historic downtown Newnan reminds us all of the importance of the holiday season: fostering hope, charity, forgiveness, and kindness.
